.: China Shanghai International Arts Festival :.

In a letter to Mr. Silard, theVice-President of the Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival, Mr. Wei Zhi, invited Silard to join them at the 6th China Shanghai International Performing Arts Fair as well as the opening series, which is scheduled to run from Oct 15th to Oct. 20th. Among this year's eye catching programs are the Outdoor Panorama Opera Carmen, Concert by Conductor Christoph Eschenbach and Orchestra de Paris, Yo-Yo Ma Cello Recital, Dance Gala Show "Burn the Floor", Flamenco Dance Drama "Salome", and so on, in addition to a number of (nearly half of the total programs) newly produced high quality Chinese programs, such as Dance Theatre "A Dream of Red Mansions", "Contemporary Music in Shanghai" and others.

Moreover, they'll organize several promotional showcases during this year's fair, not only for their festival to select what they want for Festival 2005/2006, but also hope a direct impression could be given to the delegates of more than 20 nations' International Arts Festivals, Theatre and Performing Arts Organizations, so as to help them select next year's touring projects.

Compared to past Festivals, Festival 2004 is extraordinarily exciting and unusual because in its opening period, dozens of cultural ministers will gather there in Shanghai and attend an international summit conference on cultural policy. Also, the opening activities of the Festival and the annual Performing Arts Fair will be quite different from those of the past: more rich and colorful in content than ever and they felt that Silard's arrival to the occasion of the grand gathering of cultural celebrities from all over the world, would certainly ad a special luster to their events.
